The invention relates to a method for the detection and quantitative and/or qualitative analysis of protein-protein interactions, characterised in that the proteolytic release of at least one protein is achieved by: a) the expression of a first fusion protein, comprising a first interaction partner and a protease fragment; and b) the expression of a second fusion protein, comprising a second interaction partner and a second protease fragment; c) the transcomplementation of a functional protease by the interaction of the first and second interaction partners, and d) the expression of a third fusion protein, comprising a protein to be released and a domain, which causes the fusion protein to be anchored outside the cell nucleus; and e) the proteolytic splitting of the protein to be released by the complemented protease, whereby optionally at least one of the first two fusion proteins comprises an additional domain, which causes the fusion protein to be anchored outside the cell nucleus.
