An alkali metal-containing niobate-based piezoelectric material composition comprises a solid solution represented by a composition formula (ANbO₃) (A: alkali metal), and at least one additive selected from Cu, Li and Ta. Preferably the solid solution comprises KNaNbO₃ or LiKNaNbTaO₃ and the additive is Cu to improve sintering.
