PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an alkali niobate-based ceramic capable of attaining a high density sintered compact even when being sintered under atmospheric pressure.;SOLUTION: In the method for producing the alkali niobate-based ceramic whose general formula is denoted as AMO3 (wherein, A is an alkali metal, M is a transition metal in which Nb is essential and O is oxygen), powders having a composition that an alkali metal component is decreased by less than 10 wt.% (however, excluding 0 wt.%) to a target composition are synthesized and powders containing the decreased amount of the alkali metal are mixed with the synthesized powders, molded and then fired at the temperature of 900°C or higher and 1,280°C or lower.
