The invention relates to a flexible vibration damping track (10) consisting of several layers, wherein the surface weight thereof is reduced in comparison with known embodiments. The invention also relates to a method for the production of said vibration damping track, wherein three highly-viscous one-millimeter layers (11, 12, 13) having a surface weight of less than 1.5 kg/m2 are produced. According to the invention, the damping track (10) is formed from at least three layers (11, 12, 13). The outer layers are embodied in the form of a base layer (11) and a reinforcing layer (12) with a sheering-stressed decoupling layer (13) arranged therebetween. According to the inventive method, the mixture of material for each layer is provided in a viscous state in order to produce the layers (11-13) of the vibration damping track (10), whereby said mixture is conveyed to an open-width distributor (19,20,21) by means of conveyor pump (16,17,18) and a flat layer (11-13) is formed. The layers (11, 12, 13) are assembled by means of a roller system (22-28).
