The invention relates to a method for optimisation of the definition of the architecture of a multi-beam antenna with digital beam-forming and interlaced sub-networks. The method particularly comprises two steps, a first step in which the minimum number of types of blocks, forming the elementary cell, which permits the formation of a sub-network is determined, said number being a function of the level of interlacing of the sub-networks and a second step of determining the number of combiners each of the types of block must contain. This number is derived from the number of different positions which a block can occupy within a sub-network. The count has to take into account the interlacing of the sub-networks with each other. Said method permits the generation of an architecture with a good compromise between a spatial filtration satisfactory for the network lobes of the biased beams and the number of biased beams achievable without significant loss in the filtered antenna lobe.
