A solid polyelectrolyte excellent in ionic conductivity and methanol rejection; a solid polyelectrolyte film; a solid-polymer gel film; and a solid polyelectrolyte film comprising the solid-polymer gel film. The solid polyelectrolyte comprises a composition obtained by mixing a solution of a polymer containing acid groups with a solution of a polymer containing basic groups, the acid-group-containing polymer being an aliphatic polymer having, in side chains, at least one kind of groups selected from the group consisting of sulfo, phosphono, and carboxy and the basic-group-containing polymer being an aliphatic or aromatic polymer having, in the main chain or side chains, at least one kind of groups selected from the group consisting of amino, amide, and urea.
