The invention is related to an end piece (10) which forms an integral part of a mandrel (7) that is used to support a roll of material (6). The invention is of the type that comprises: a cylindrical part (10a) which can be inserted into the mandrel, a collar (10b) which rests against the facing surface of the end piece, and a projecting attachment (10c). Moreover, a guiding and retaining groove (10d) is provided along the length of the projecting attachment, such as to form a guide path. The invention is characterised in that the aforementioned guide path co-operates with a guide (11 12 - 15) that is provided on the flange (3) that supports the coil (6) of material opposite the casing (1) of the device. The invention is also characterised in that the guide (11 12 - 15) is disposed on the inner side of the flange (3), i.e. on the side that receives the coil of material (6) as well as the drum (5) of the corresponding cutting device. The invention is further characterised in that the guide (11 - 12 - 15) comprises slightly-projecting flat configurations which form and define a channel that can receive the above-mentioned attachment (10c) of the end piece such as to enable the end piece to be inserted and retained therein, said channel extending into a part for receiving the end piece following the insertion thereof.
