ADAPTIVE ALGORITHM FOR A CHOLESKY APPROXIMATION

Data is to be detected in a wireless communication system. A plurality ofcommunication signals (r) are received. A solution for estimating data (d) ofthe received communication signals (r) is modeled using a linear system (34)requiring a matrix inversion. Columns or rows (A, and B) of an approximateCholesky factor are determined. A difference between the determined columns orrows (A, and B) is determined. If the determined difference is less than athreshold, subsequent columns or rows are determined by previous determinedcolumns or rows. The data (d) of received communication signals (r) isestimated using the approximate Cholesky factor.
