PURPOSE: A method for managing a short message of a mobile communication terminal is provided to add a function of setting a received short message storage period option every message, thereby storing, deleting, and managing a specific message. CONSTITUTION: A system presets a short message repository of a mobile communication terminal. The system selects a short message to be stored among short messages received to the set mobile communication terminal, and decides whether a save button is inputted. If so, the system selects either the first and second predetermined period storage functions or a permanent storage function, and stores the selected short message for a predetermined period or permanently.
