PURPOSE: To environmental-friendly stabilize and solidify contaminated sediment of water bodies without scattering the sediment around, by covering the contaminated area with a biodegradable cover sheet formed of starch and then depositing inorganic materials such as slag and fly ash on the biodegradable cover sheet, thereby prevent deterioration of water quality due to decay of contaminated sediment. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises steps of (a) covering an area on which contaminated sediment is deposited with a biodegradable cover sheet formed of starch, wherein the cover sheet is permeable to water and gas; and (b) depositing inorganic materials such as slag and fly ash on the biodegradable cover sheet, wherein the inorganic material is prepared by mixing 80 to 96 wt.% of soil, 2 to 10 wt.% of slag powder and 2 to 10 wt.% of fly ash.
