PURPOSE: A coiled rod for a cone penetration tester is provided to increase durability and stiffness by forming in a triple complex structure, to improve the accuracy on a test for the ground using a regular cone by applying the standard sectional area to a coiled rod, to improve the workability of a tester and to heighten the economical efficiency by shortening a period of a test by winding a coiled rod round a cone penetration tester. CONSTITUTION: The coiled rod(1) for a cone penetration tester comprises: a cone(2) connected to one end of the coiled rod(1); a rod body(3) having the appointed length to penetrate the cone(2) to the ground and formed with rigid FRP(Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic); rigid coils(4) contacted/fixed by winding round the outer face of the FRP; and a stainless steel outer layer(5) covering up the outer face of the rigid coils(4). The FRP restrains the buckling of the coiled rod(1), the rigid coil(4) transfers vertical load to the coiled rod(1), and the stainless steel outer layer(5) protects the internal rigid coil(4) and reduces the friction between the ground and the coiled rod(1).
