PURPOSE: A traveling distance fabrication preventing method of a vehicle is provided to prevent property damages and accidents generated by the deteriorated and aged vehicle by restricting numbers of an odometer for displaying total traveling distance of a used vehicle from forging. CONSTITUTION: A traveling distance fabrication preventing method of a vehicle is composed of steps for matching initial values of an ECU(Electronic Control Unit) odometer and a cluster odometer and integrating the traveling distance; comparing and monitoring integrated distance values of the ECU odometer and the cluster odometer if a predetermined condition is generated during traveling; integrating the traveling distance if a compared result and an actual error are lower than a set error and detecting monitoring times after setting the error if over the set error; integrating the traveling distance if the number of monitorings is below 3 times and deciding if the error is generated continuously over 3 times as the number of monitorings is over 3 times; and warning and displaying mismatch of the integrated distance of the ECU distance odometer and the cluster odometer by flickering the cluster odometer or an engine warning lamp for three consecutive errors.
