PURPOSE: Provided is an active fraction having weight loss effects on leprdb/leprdb mice isolated from medicinal plants. Therefore, the active fraction is used for prevention and treatment of obesity. CONSTITUTION: The composition for prevention and treatment of obesity is characterized by containing, main ingredient, at least one active fraction selected from the group consisting of Nelumbo nucifera, Codonopsis lanceolata, Glechoma longituba, Gleditsae spina, Viticis fructus, Santalinus lignum rubrum, Mucunae caulis, Euonymus alatus Sieb and Asparagus tuber.
