PURPOSE: A device for preventing reverse rotation of a pinion shaft is provided to restrict reverse rotation of the pinion shaft by restricting backward movement of a rack with a sliding plate, and to improve the reliability by preventing operation failure in stopping the pinion shaft. CONSTITUTION: A sliding plate(400) is installed perpendicularly to the moving direction of a rack(32), and reciprocated by a second pneumatic cylinder(600). The rack is moved forward to rotate a pinion(33), and reverse rotation of a pinion shaft(34) is restricted by shutting off the rear end of the rack. Backward movement of the rack is restricted by contacting the sliding plate to the rack, and the sliding plate is supported by a guide to resist thrust of the rack. The rack is contacted smoothly to the sliding plate by forming the inclined surfaces in the contact portions of the rack and the sliding plate.
