PURPOSE: A backlight assembly and an LCD having the same are provided to enhance the display quality of an LCD by having a reflection sheet for preventing a light from leaking to a light exiting surface of a light guide plate. CONSTITUTION: A lamp unit(750) generates a light. A light exiting surface(721) outputs the light. A light reflection surface(722) facing the light exiting surface(721) reflects the light. An accommodating space(725) accommodates the lamp unit(750) at a lower side of a light entering surface(723). A reflection sheet(727) is positioned between a portion of the accommodating space(725) and the lamp unit(750) and prevents light generated from the lamp unit(750) from being directly guided toward the light exiting surface(721). A connection surface(724) connects the light entering surface(723) and the light exiting surface(721), and guides the light toward the light exiting surface(721).
