PURPOSE: A method for controlling external circuit power for a reverse data service is provided to reduce complexity of an existing algorithm and accurately control reverse power according to an actual input data state. CONSTITUTION: When input frames are normal, the number of successive good frames is counted, and if the number of successive good frames is greater than a threshold value, a target Eb/Nt value is reduced as much as a certain level. If input frames are bad frames, the number of successive bad frames is counted, and if the number of successive bad frames is greater than a threshold value, the target Eb/Nt is increased as much as a certain level, while if the number of successive bad frames is not greater than the threshold value, the target Eb/Nt value is increased as much as a certain level. With no frames inputted, the number of successive null frames is counted, and if the number of successive null frames is greater than a threshold value, the target Eb/Nt value is increased as much as a certain level.
