PURPOSE: A device for saving power supply of a portable terminal and a method therefor are provided to minimize power consumption by periodically detecting paging signals and detect interrupt signals by operating an interrupt routine, thereby increasing hours for using a battery of a portable terminal. CONSTITUTION: A power supply unit(110) outputs operating power supply to each functional unit of a mobile terminal. A control unit(200) monitors and controls each functional unit. A clock unit(300) selectively outputs an inner clock signal by a control signal applied from the control unit. A digital baseband unit(400) processes a digital baseband signal by the inner clock signal and wirelessly connects to a base station. A flash memory(500) outputs a stored program. An SRAM(Static Random Access Memory)(600) stores variable data and outputs the stored data. A melody camera unit(700) outputs a melody signal and processes an image signal. An audio unit(900) processes a voice signal.
