Production Method of Catechin with High Antioxidative Activity from The Extracts of Rosa davurica Pall

PURPOSE: A process of preparing catechin as flavane-based compounds(formula) by extracting Rosa davurica PALL. is provided. The extract containing a large amount of catechin exhibits higher activity than conventional antioxidant while exhibiting DPPH free radical scavenging activity, lipoperoxidation inhibitory activity and antioxidant effect on oxidation of low density lipoprotein. CONSTITUTION: Finely cut Rosa davurica PALL. is dried in the shade, added with 20 times of alcohol such as methanol and precipitated at 20 to 80deg.C for 3 to 5 days. The precipitate is added with 20 times of methanol and then re-extracted. The above two extracts are then mixed, concentrated under reduced pressure and solvent-fractionated successively.
