PURPOSE: A method for treating steelmaking wastewater is provided which is capable of removing fluoride and suspended solids of fluorine contained wastewater by magnetic separation within a short period of time without using of precipitation tank. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises a step of collecting suspended solids by magnetism and discharging treated water by passing fluorine contained steelmaking wastewater through a magnetic separation tank(20a) in an upflow direction; a step of forming fluorine compound by mixing fluorine treating agent with the discharged treated water and stirring the mixture thereof; a step of forming fluorine magnetic floc by mixing magnetic fine powder with the fluorine compound formed treated water and stirring the mixture thereof; a step of collecting the fluorine magnetic floc by magnetism and discharging the treated water so that the discharged treated water is stored by passing the fluorine magnetic floc formed treated water through a magnetic separation tank(20b) in an upflow direction; and a step of removing adhesion material by injecting treated water of treated water storage tank(40) onto an upper part of the magnetic separation tank in the state that magnetism of the magnetic separation tank is removed at a time point when adhesion power of the magnetic separation tank is saturated.
