PURPOSE: An apparatus for removing suspended solid in steel wastewater is provided in which precipitation tank is not used, and suspended solid is removed from steel wastewater by magnetic separation, and a method for removing the suspended solid is provided. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus comprises a raw wastewater storage tank(10) for storing steel wastewater; one or more of magnetic separation tanks to an outer side of which magnet is attached, in which one or more of porous lamella fillers are installed with being spaced apart from each other in a certain distance, which is connected to the raw wastewater storage tank in such a manner that wastewater is circulated between the raw wastewater storage tank and the magnetic separation tanks so that suspended solid of steel wastewater supplied in an upflow direction is adhered to the fillers and main body of the magnetic separation tanks, and which is equipped with a cleaning nozzle in an upper part of the fillers; a treated water storage tank(40) which is connected to an upper part of the magnetic separation tanks in such a manner that treated water is circulated between the treated water storage tank and the magnetic separation tanks, at one side of which a supply pipe for supplying cleaning water to the nozzle of the magnetic separation tanks is installed, and at the other side of which a treated water discharge pipe is installed; and a cleaning water storage tank(50) which is connected to a lower part of the magnetic separation tanks in such a way that cleaning water is circulated between the magnetic separation tanks and the cleaning water storage tank so that cleaning water injected from the nozzle is led in the cleaning water storage tank through the fillers.
