PURPOSE: A method for diagnosing failure of electrode sensor of washing machine is provided to prevent a wrong operation of the electrode sensor and the progress of a washing step in a wrong washing pattern caused by the failure of the electrode sensor. CONSTITUTION: A method for diagnosing failure of electrode sensor of washing machine is composed of steps for executing a washing operation by putting the water and detergent into a washing tub and submerging an electrode sensor under water(S11); detecting conductivity of the washing water by the electrode sensor(S12); draining the water after completing the washing step, supplying the rinsing water, and rinsing the laundry after submerging the electrode sensor under the water(S13); measuring the conductivity of the rinsing water by the electrode sensor(S14); and deciding an operation state of the electrode sensor by comparing each conductivity detected by the rinsing water and washing water conductivity sensing steps(S15).
