PURPOSE: A system and method for providing an origination position of a PSTN(Public Switched Telephone Network) in a mobile communication network are provided to display detailed local area information of a terminal of the PSTN on a destination mobile terminal when the terminal of the PSTN processes a call. CONSTITUTION: An HLR(Home Location Register)(40) checks a location of an MS(Mobile Station)(10). A local position DB(50) stores origination area positions of the PSTN and corresponding local phone numbers. The origination MS(10) displays an origination local position of the PSTN(60). An MSC(Mobile Switching Center) receives a request for processing a call to the destination MS(10) from the PSTN, checks position information of the destination MS(10) from the HLR(40), and checks local position information corresponding to a local phone number of an origination terminal from the local position DB(50). A BTS(Base station Transceiver Subsystem)/BSC(Base Station Controller)(20) processes the call to the destination MS(10) corresponding to the position information provided from the MSC(30) and transfers local position information corresponding to the local phone number of the origination terminal.
