PURPOSE: A health food composition having anti-diabetic activity and a preparation method thereof are provided, which composition reduces the total cholesterol level and triglycerides level in serum without side-effects, so that it can be useful for treatment of diabetes. CONSTITUTION: The health food composition having anti-diabetic activity comprises 10 to 30 wt.% of Inonotus obliquus extract, 40 to 60 wt.% of Artemisia asiatica Nakai extract, 10 to 15 wt.% of Morus alba folium extract, 10 to 15 wt.% of Zea Mays Linne silk extract, 1 to 10 wt.% of Pueraria thunbergiana BENTH. extract and 1 to 10 wt.% of Schizandra chinensis BAILL. extract. The method for preparing the health food composition having anti-diabetic activity comprises the steps of: extracting Inonotus obliquus in water, ethanol or a mixture thereof with sonication at 20 to 50 KHz, filtering and concentrating the extract of Inonotus obliquus; independently extracting Artemisia asiatica Nakai, Morus alba folium, Zea Mays Linne silk, Pueraria thunbergiana BENTH. and Schizandra chinensis BAILL. in water, ethanol or a mixture thereof with sonication at 20 to 50 KHz, filtering and concentrating them; and mixing the extracts of Inonotus obliquus, Artemisia asiatica Nakai, Morus alba folium, Zea Mays Linne silk, Pueraria thunbergiana BENTH. and Schizandra chinensis BAILL. with pharmaceutically acceptable carriers, and homogenizing the mixture.
