FLAT CATHODE RAY TUBE WITH REDUCED MANUFACTURING COSTS BY REDUCING THICKNESSES OF PANEL AND FUNNEL

PURPOSE: A flat cathode ray tube is provided to reduce manufacturing costs by reducing thicknesses of a panel and a funnel, and achieve improved explosion proof characteristics by forming a groove at an upper surface of the funnel so as to enhance sealing of the panel and the funnel. CONSTITUTION: A flat cathode ray tube comprises a panel(1) having an inner surface on which a screen is formed; a funnel(3) mounted on a rear surface of the panel; an electron gun inserted into a neck portion of the funnel so as to emit electron beams toward the screen; and a tension mask having a plurality of electron beam passing holes. The panel has a diagonal effective surface length to panel thickness ratio of 2.7 to 3.3%. The funnel has a diagonal effective surface length to seal edge thickness ratio of 1.8 to 2.0%.
