PURPOSE: A solid-state imaging device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to suppress occurrence of resin burrs at peripheries of an internal terminal part of a metal lead piece by improving a shape of the metal lead piece having the internal terminal part and an external terminal part. CONSTITUTION: A housing(1) includes a base(2) and a rectangular rib(3). A plurality of metal lead pieces(9) are embedded in the housing. Each of the metal lead pieces has an internal terminal part(9a) and an external terminal part(9b). A lateral electrode part(9c) is exposed on an external lateral face of the housing. An imaging element(5) is fixed on the base. A plurality of connection members(10) are used for connecting electrodes of the imaging element to the internal terminal parts of the metal lead pieces, respectively. A transparent plate(7) is fixed to an upper end of the rib. A thickness of each metal lead piece at a predetermined position of the internal terminal part thereof is substantially equal to a thickness of the base. The external terminal part of the metal lead piece is formed with a reverse lateral face of the metal lead piece at a predetermined position corresponding to the internal terminal part.
