PURPOSE: An organic electroluminescence device and a method are provided to reduce the thickness of the device and lengthen the useful life of the device by allowing for formation of a passivation film rather than a sealing cap. CONSTITUTION: A method for manufacturing an organic electroluminescence device comprises a step of forming an ITO layer(2) on a substrate(1); a step of forming an insulation layer(3) on the ITO layer; a step of disposing a mask all over the resultant structure; a step of fixing the mask on the resultant structure by using a mask fixing member arranged at the side opposite from the resultant structure; a step of forming an organic layer(5) on the ITO layer in the space formed between the insulation layers; a step of forming a metal electrode layer(6) on the organic layer; and a step of separating the mask from the resultant structure.
