PURPOSE: Algorithm for controlling a transmission gear ratio of a continuously variable transmission vehicle and a tester thereof are provided to improve fuel efficiency by controlling the desired transmission gear ratio considering response delay time of the power train system. CONSTITUTION: The speed is calculated considering response delay time with acceleration and response delay time, and the vehicle speed is calculated by adding the present vehicle speed to the calculated speed. The desired transmission gear ratio is calculated after response delay time with the rate of the vehicle speed after the response delay time and the optimal operation speed of the engine. Acceleration is maximized according to the opening degree of the engine throttle. The vehicle speed is increased from the present vehicle speed considering response delay time and calculated by multiplying the acceleration by the response delay time.
