STRUCTURE FOR PROTECTING HEAD OF PEDESTRIAN IN COWL PANEL OF VEHICLE AND FOR RESTRICTING DISPLACEMENT OF COWL TOP COVER

PURPOSE: A structure for protecting a pedestrian in a cowl panel for a vehicle is provided to prevent the head of the pedestrian from being injured by sliding the upper steel cowl panel down with the slit, and to restrict displacement of the cowl top cover from the windshield glass in opening and closing the hood panel by preventing moment to the cowl top cover. CONSTITUTION: A lower steel cowl panel(2) of a cowl panel(1) is welded into an inner cowl panel(3). A reinforcing panel(4) is welded into the rear part of the inner cowl panel, and the lower part of a windshield glass(5) is fixed to the upper part of the inner cowl panel. The rear part of a plastic cowl top cover(6) is supported in the lower part of the windshield glass, and the upper pat of an upper steel cowl panel(20) is fixed in parallel to the lower cowl panel. A slit(21) is formed in the upper cowl panel, and a bolt(22) is combined with the lower cowl panel to absorb impact by sliding the upper cowl panel down. The bolt is combined with a nut(24) welded into an assembling hole(23) of the lower cowl panel, and a hood weather strip(9) is fixed to the cowl top cover by a clip(10). The rear part of a hood panel(11) is placed in the upper part of the cowl top cover.
