PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for measuring length using a mobile terminal are provided to achieve more efficient and exact length measurement in a mobile user's business or study by installing a length measuring roller at the outer circumferential side of a mobile terminal and displaying a measured length on the LCD screen of the mobile terminal. CONSTITUTION: If a mobile terminal user tries to measure the length of a specific object by using a length measuring roller installed at the main body of his mobile terminal(501), the roller rotates(502). Penetration grooves are rotated according to the rotation of the roller. At this moment, a counter counts the number of rotated penetration grooves(503). The counted number is transferred to a length measuring operation processing part. The length measuring operation processing part executes data processing for the measured length, based on the length measurement data stored in a length measurement database(504). The processed length measurement data are outputted through an LCD part or an audio part according to the control of a microprocessor(505-508).
