PURPOSE: A defect detecting and grinding device of a hot strip transfer roll is provided to analyze and polish surficial defects generated on the transfer roll by monitoring defect-information to a central operation room and to have no effect on a hot rolling work of a following product by preventing continuous defects. CONSTITUTION: A defect detecting and grinding device of a hot strip transfer roll(100) is composed of a transfer unit(200) mounting each component on a base(201) and traveling along a rail under the hot strip transfer roll; a surface detecting unit(300) installed at the transfer unit to detect defects generated on the surface of the transfer roll; a grinding unit(400) disposed at the transfer unit to polish the surficial defects of the transfer roll; and a system unit for reading an image of the detected data, transmitting an analyzed result to the outside, and controlling the grinding unit.
