PURPOSE: A method for calculating an average travelling speed of a vehicle in a traffic information system using DSRC and DGPS technology and a system thereof are provided to calculate the average travelling speed of the vehicle more accurately. CONSTITUTION: According to the system for calculating an average travelling speed of a vehicle in a traffic information system using DSRC and DGPS technology, a DGPS base station calculates error between a coordinate value measured using a GPS satellite and an actual coordinate value. A server manages a number of base stations by being connected to the base stations in real time, and calculates a speed of a vehicle moving between base stations. A road side equipment is installed to transmit and receive traffic information with a terminal. And the terminal is loaded on the vehicle to display traffic information to the driver. And a GPS receiver is loaded on the vehicle, and measures position of the vehicle on the basis of the error calculated in the DGPS base station and then transmits it to the terminal.
