PURPOSE: A method for driving a plasma display panel and a plasma display device are provided to suppress the discharge between the address electrode and the scan electrode in the sustain period generated due to the wall charges excessively formed during the address period. CONSTITUTION: A plasma display device includes a plasma display panel and a driving circuit. The plasma display panel is provided with a sustain electrode, a scan electrode and an address electrode. The driving circuit applies the driving voltage to the sustain electrode, the scan electrode and the address electrode during the reset period, the address period and the sustain period. The driving circuit applies the second voltage to the address electrode of the discharge cell to be selected when the address electrode of the discharge cell not selected is the first voltage. And, the driving circuit alternatively applies the sustain discharge pulse to the sustain electrode and the address electrode during the sustain period and maintains the potential of the address with the third voltage.
