摘要

PURPOSE: A position tracking method of a mobile communication terminal by using a triangulation technique is provided to gradually down-convert a reference value for a handoff to select adjacent base stations, thereby exactly tracking a position of a mobile communication terminal according to pilot signal strength. CONSTITUTION: A position of a mobile communication terminal is requested(S101). If a signal is transmitted, a distance between the first base station and the terminal is calculated(S102). The terminal gradually down-converts a reference value for selecting a base station to hand off by a command received from the first base station(S103). If the second base station having the highest signal strength is obtained(S104), a distance between the second base station and the terminal is calculated(S105). The terminal down-converts the down-converted reference value again(S106). If the third base station is obtained(S107), a distance between the third base station and the terminal is calculated(S108). The position of the terminal is calculated by using the calculated distances and coordinates of each base station(S109).
