PURPOSE: To provide a method capable of effectively fabricating a metallic wire for thermal spray coating or welding of high quality although a metallic material having low formability is used as a raw material. CONSTITUTION: A fabrication method of metallic wire for thermal spray coating or welding comprises a step of forming molten droplet having a size of 500 μm or less; a step of manufacturing the molten droplet into a laminated composite before the molten droplet is solidified; and a step of processing the laminated composite into a wire rod, wherein a method for forming the molten droplet is a gas atomization method using a gas having a high pressure of 3 to 30 atmospheric pressures, wherein the method for forming the molten droplet is a centrifugal atomization method for forming micro-droplets using centrifugal force of the rotary body as flowing molten metal over a rotary body, and wherein the step of processing the laminated composite into the wire rod is performed at a temperature of 150 to 500 deg.C during extrusion and at an ordinary temperature to 500 deg.C during rolling of fine wire.
