PURPOSE: A DivXP(Digital Internet Video Express Player)/VCR(Video Camera Recorder) combination system is provided to play audio CDs and DVD-type CDs as well as DivXP-type CDs, thereby playing CDs manufactured in various types while maintaining the same quality as a DVD type. CONSTITUTION: A DivXP/VCR combination system(1) consists of a VCR unit(3) for performing a general VCR function and a DivXP unit(2) for performing a general DivXP function of reproducing video/caption/sound data. An audio amplifier(4) and a TV set(5) are connected to the DivXP/VCR combination system(1) as peripheral devices for outputting the reproduced video/sound data. The DivXP/VCR combination system(1) carries out a recording/reproducing process by receiving the video/sound data from an external apparatus(6). The combination system(1) operates an external operational panel unit, or remotely manipulates a program with a remote controller(7).
