PURPOSE: A connecting rod of a closed compressor is provided to smooth sliding between an eccentric unit and the connecting rod by transmitting stress generated between a large diameter unit of the rod and an eccentric unit of a rotary shaft to a rod unit. CONSTITUTION: A connecting rod(50) of a closed compressor is composed of a large diameter unit(53) inserted into an eccentric unit(5a) of an upper end of a crank shaft; a small diameter unit(51) combined to a piston(10) by a piston pin(10a); a rod unit(55) for connecting between the large and small diameter units; and a step unit formed at the side of the rod unit to make one side of the rod unit thinner than the other side thereof. The step unit is a step groove(60) formed at the under side of the rod unit to communicate left and right sides of the rod unit to each other.
