PURPOSE: Provided are zirconia-alumina(ZrO2-Al2O3) ceramic composite materials with high mechanical strength and toughness, and prevention of low-temperature degradation. CONSTITUTION: The ZrO2-Al2O3 ceramic composite materials, applied to mechanical parts, cutting tools, medical supplies, biological materials etc., comprise a first phase and 20-60vol.%, preferably 30-50vol.%,(based on composite ceramic materials) of a second phase. The first phase contains 10-12mol.% of CeO for degradation prevention, 0.005-0.5mol% of Y2O3 and ZrO2(0.1-0.8micrometer) composed of tetragonal ZrO2 more than 90vol.%, and the second phase contains Al2O3(0.1-0.5micrometer size). The ratio of the number of Al2O3 particles dispersed in ZrO2 particles, based on the total number of Al2O3 particles dispersed in the composite ceramic materials, is more than 2%, which induces nano composite structure in the ceramic composite materials.
