PURPOSE: A timing chain loosening mechanism is provided to improve work efficiency for replacing and adjusting a timing chain by loosening the timing chain by separating an adapter body from a cylinder head. CONSTITUTION: A timing chain loosening mechanism is composed of an adapter body(5) having a press unit(3) for pressurizing a portion formed between two cam shafts of a timing chain from the upside; a transfer unit for moving rectilinearly the adapter body from the upside of a cylinder head to the lower side; and a guide unit for guiding the rectilinear movement of the adapter body. The transfer unit comprises a transfer hole formed vertically on the adapter body; a stud(13) screw-combined to a screw hole formed through the transfer hole at the cylinder head; and a press nut(15) screw-joined to the stud to pressurize the adapter body to the cylinder head by a screwing motion in the stud.
