APPARATUS AND A METHOD FOR EDITING MOVING PICTURE DATA TO MAKE IT PRECISE AND EASY TO SET AN EDIT POINT OF TIME IN A VIDEO INTERVAL

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for editing moving picture data are provided to make it precise and easy to set an edit point of time as an in-point and an out-point thereof in a video interval. CONSTITUTION: An operation input part receives an operation input from a user. A storage part stores moving picture data. A decoding part decodes the moving picture data read from the storage part so as to convert it into display video data. A thumb nail generation part generates a thumb nail from the moving picture data at each predetermined time period. A display video generation part reproduces the display video data on a display apparatus and displays the thumb nail of a reproduced picture currently displayed on the display apparatus and a plurality of thumb nails around the reproduced picture by overlap with the reproduced picture. A part adds information of an edit point of time to the moving picture data and then stores it in the storage part, wherein the edit point thereof indicates a position of picture data corresponding to one of the thumb nails specified through the operation input part.
