PURPOSE: Provided is a colorant composition for a stainless steel, which gives an uniform color and excellent color reproducibility and maintains the initial color after standing or using for a long time. CONSTITUTION: The colorant composition for coloring a stainless steel with brown, blue, gold, red, purple, light green and/or green comprises a salt selected from the group consisting of a permanganate salt, a peroxysulfate salt and an oxychloride sa a bichromate sa and sulfuric acid, in the mole ratio of 0.01-1.0 : 1.5-2.0 : 4.8-5.2. In addition, the colorant composition for coloring a stainless steel with black comprises a salt selected from the group consisting of a permanganate salt, a peroxysulfate salt and an oxychloride sa a bichromate sa chrome sulfate; and sulfuric acid, in the mole ratio of 0.01-0.05 : 0.5-1.0 : 0.12-0.18 : 7.0-10.0.
