PURPOSE: A method for updating high accuracy rational polynomial coefficient data is provided to save cost and time for measuring a geographical reference point by reducing the number of geographical reference points required for extracting geographical information by using a GPS(Global Positioning System) single control point. CONSTITUTION: A high accuracy satellite image and RPC(Rational Polynomial Coefficient) data are acquired by using pre-established data or a new satellite photography process. A single reference point representing for the high accuracy satellite image is defined, and the single reference point is measured by using a 3-dimensional GPS. Image reference point coordinates and geographical reference point coordinates are obtained by using a GPS(S411,S412). The image reference point coordinates and the geographical reference point coordinates are used to induce an RPC data update model(S421). A deflection correction model is selected according to an added reference point and an applied image, and the selected deflection correction model as well as the RPC data update model is used to calculate deflection correction parameters by using a least square adjustment(S423). The deflection correction parameters are converted to normal coordinates(S424). The converted normal coordinates are used to replace low accuracy RPC data with high accuracy RPC data(S425). The RPC data upate model is induced by using a predetermined mathematical equation.
