The end time TEND of the retrace portion of the vertical sawtooth wave signal in the vertical sawtooth wave generator 18 is controlled by the output signal 112a of the comparator 19. The comparator includes a first input terminal (inverting terminal) that responds to the reference voltage LOW, and a second input terminal (non-inverting terminal) that responds to the sawtooth signal. The reference voltage is coupled to the input terminal (base of Q7) of the amplifiers Q5, Q6, Q7 and Q8 of the integrator generating the sawtooth signal. Any disturbing signal component in the reference voltage signal is superimposed on the sawtooth signal. Since the disturbance signal component appears simultaneously at the two input terminals of the comparator, a high common mode rejection is provided with respect to the disturbance signal component.
