PURPOSE: To adjust the chain length of alpha olefine that is produced by using carbon dioxide in the presence of a Fe-K/alumina based catalyst, thereby increasing the conversion rate of carbon dioxide and selectivity regarding alpha olefin. CONSTITUTION: The Fe-K/alumina based catalyst is prepared by (a) mixing 0.1-5 wt.% of aluminum hydroxide based on total weight, Fe-K/alumina fine powders and water to prepare a slurry, wherein the slurry comprises Fe 1 to 30 wt.%, K 0.05 to 15 wt.%, Al 65 to 95 wt.% and aluminum hydroxide 0.1 to 5 wt.% and a polymer selected from polyethyleneglycol, polyvinyl chloride and polyvinylidene chloride is additionally added in an amount of 0.05 to 10 wt.%; and (b) extruding the slurry, followed by drying and sintering. The method is characterized in that carbon dioxide is subject to hydrogenation reaction in the presence of the Fe-K/alumina catalyst and the alpha olefin obtained has a carbon number of greater than 5.
