FIELD: cutting processes and equipment, namely units for cutting tubes, for example helical-seam tubes.;SUBSTANCE: according to first variant of invention installation includes shaping head for receiving strip of material and twisting it to helical seam tube. Shaping head includes inner and outer circumferential surfaces, first and second cutters. First cutter is arranged practically inside inner circumferential surface of shaping head; second cutter is arranged outside outer circumferential surface of shaping head and it is mounted with possibility of providing overlap contact with first cutter for cutting tube. First cutter is joined with drive mechanism having motor and driving member joined with said motor and capable for transmitting rotation to first cutter from said motor. In variants of invention different designs of active drive mechanism for rotating inner cutting member are offered. Method for cutting helical-seam tube comprises steps of receiving material strip in shaping head of mechanism for shaping helical seam tube; forming helical-seam tube in shaping mechanism. In order to impart rotation to first cutter for cutting helical-seam tube, drive mechanism joined with first cutter arranged inside inner circumferential surface of head is operated and second cutter arranged outside outer circumferential surface of shaping head is fed for providing overlap contact with first cutter.;EFFECT: simplified cutting process, lowered possibility of occurring material waviness or device jamming at shaping tube.;20 cl, 6 dwg
