Two or more individual parts(10,13) of different color are joined together along a seam(15) to produce a final single component. At least one part(10,13) is cut to size and shape before joining so that joining rib is created. One or more of the components may be colored sheets and can be cut with a laser and/or thermoformed before joining. Components are joined together by bonding, welding and/or laser beam welding which produces a completely closed seam(15). Plastic injected onto the back of the finished product(16) may be embossed on the rear face. The final product is cut to size and shape with a laser beam, water jet, heated and/or unheated blade. The finished two colored product has a smooth surface, typically of paint quality, suitable for the outer skin of a vehicle or have a smooth or grained finish for components used inside a vehicle. An independent claim is included for a two or more colored vehicle component produced by the claimed process.
