The electric motor has a rotor (10) and a movable brake element (18) for braking the rotor. The brake element has a brake lining (26) that is attached without the use of an adhesive. The brake lining is attached to the brake element by using a carrier element. The brake lining can be soldered, welded or sintered onto the brake element or carrier element. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) an electric motor with an inventive device (b) and a machine to with an inventive electric motor.
