New plant proteins of the pathogen and circadian controlled-1 family, useful for regulating flowering time and for increasing resistance to pathogens

A plant protein (I) of the pathogen and circadian controlled-1 (PCC1) family, is new. (I) is implicated in the regulation of flowering time and mediates increased resistance to attack by pathogens. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a nucleic acid (II) that encodes (I); (2) host cells that contain (II); (3) preparing (I) by cloning (II) into a vector then introducing this into a host cell or cell extract; (4) preparing a transgenic plant that contains (I); (5) transgenic plants produced by the method of (4); and (6) controlling the flowering time of transgenic plants.
