The cover (7) is movable from a horizontal operating position into a vertical out-of-use position immediately behind a back rest (6) of a rear bench seat or the front seats of the motor vehicle. At least one holding element (9) is provided for locking the load space cover in the out-of-use position. The holding element is a storage and clamp support mounted on the rear of the back rest so the cover extends to just under the ceiling (17) in the out-of-use position.
