A processing aid for textile dyeing and printing comprises a copolymer (I) of at least 2 monoethylenically unsaturated monomers containing at least one nitrogen containing heterocycle. Independent claims are included for: (1) a transfer agent comprising a copolymer (I); (2) a process for the transfer of false colors from textile materials using a copolymer (I); (3) a leveling agent comprising a copolymer (I); (4) a process for the leveling of dyes of textile materials using a copolymer (I); (5) a post-cleaning agent comprising a copolymer (I) and; a process for the post cleaning of dyed or printed textiles using a copolymer (I).
