The method involves providing the driver information when the vehicle leaves the current lane or is about to leave the lane. The driver information consists of switching on the flashers or generating a flasher sound, whereby the flashers or the noise are/is deactivated if the reaction or the driver information is detected. Alternatively, the noise can be generated first and then the flashers activated if no driver reaction is detected. An independent claim is also included for the following: (a) a method of providing driver information on leaving a lane.
